ORLANDO, FLA. (PRWEB) JUNE 13, 2023

NovaCHARGE, Inc. proudly announces their participation in the ChargeX National Charging Experience Consortium.

Funded by the Joint Office of Energy and Transportation (Joint Office), this consortium is led by three national laboratories: The Argonne National Laboratory, Idaho National Laboratory, and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory. This team will work together on the mission “to measure and significantly improve public charging reliability and usability by June 2025.”

NovaCHARGE is committed to providing seamless EV charging for everyone, which aligns with the mission of the ChargeX Consortium. By joining this group of industry stakeholders, the NovaCHARGE team will help address common challenges that impact public charging usability, including diagnostic data sharing, user interface, payment processing, and vehicle-charger communication.

“We are thrilled to have this opportunity to collaborate with industry leaders on improving public charging reliability," said Mark Gross, VP of Product Management at NovaCHARGE. "Our mission of empowering seamless EV charging for all is unwavering and it aligns well with the goals of the ChargeX Consortium." With thousands of EV charging solutions deployed, Gross looks forward to contributing the NovaCHARGE team’s 15+ years of knowledge gained to this vital effort.

The ChargeX National Charging Experience Consortium is made up of leading EV industry stakeholders, including some of the largest automakers in the world. Together, they have agreed to create a set of standards to ensure consistent experiences when using any type of public charger across different regions in the United States. ChargeX includes three working groups that will focus on a few primary objectives — defining the charging experience, triaging charging reliability and usability, and developing solutions for scaling reliability.

As part of those working groups, NovaCHARGE is pleased to have our VP of Product Management, Mark Gross, actively participating in Working Group 1, Define the Charging Experience.  With the help of data and insights from Consortium participants, the national labs will define and publish key performance indicators that measure the customer charging experience, set targets for each performance indicator, measure performance of charging networks in the U.S., and provide a blueprint for recognizing excellence in industry.

Our CTO, Praveen Mandal, has requested to co-chair Working Group 3, Develop Solutions for Scaling Reliability. Objectives for this group include rapidly improving charger reliability and usability by overcoming diagnostic limitations, reducing communication failures between EVs, EVSEs and charging networks, and ensuring every EV can successfully charge with every charger as the the number of EV's and EV chargers grows.

With Mandal's vast experience in the EV industry (Founder and President of ChargePoint, CTO at Volta Charging, CTO at NovaCHARGE, MIT Connection Science Fellow and MIT Media Lab Research Affiliate) and expertise with AI modeling/development that assists with EV infrastructure planning tools, as well as numerous successful patents, he's a natural fit to help deliver successful outcomes with this working group.
