Palm Harbor AAA to Get Electric Vehicle Charging Stations
Palm Harbor could soon become a travel destination for those who drive electric vehicles.
That's because drivers will soon be able to "plug in" at a new electric car charging station located at AAA South in Palm Harbor.
Beginning June 30, the 240 volt, level II chargers will be located in the parking lot of the AAA South at 32050 US 19. They are part of the ChargePoint Network and will be accessible 24-hours a day.
The Palm Harbor AAA South location will be able to accommodate up to two vehicles at the same time. Drivers will be able to "top off" their vehicle's charge in 30 to 60 minutes at no cost.
51% of Floridians who participated in a recent survey conducted by AAA Consumer Pulse said one of their biggest concerns when it comes to purchasing an electric vehicle is the ability to charge the vehicle away from home.
"AAA understands the future of electric vehicles and is proud to be a leader in support of the new EV infrastructure," said Pete Candela, Director of AAA Automotive Repair.
AAA says in addition to being environmentally friendly, electric vehicles require less maintenance, have strong acceleration and provide a quiet ride. Electric motors are energy efficient, converting 75% of chemical energy from batteries to power the wheels.
Those in the industry think electric cars will become more popular as the availability of charging stations increases.
"As more EV charging stations emerge, more motorists will consider purchasing an electric vehicle that's already on the market," says Anthony Iannaccone, Director of Engineering at AAI Electrify.
The AAA South Palm Harbor is located at 32050 US 19, 727-789-7850
